"STEEL" Postcard

To Architect Rafael Vinoly, a block of steel was the perfect symbol for the burden carried by Medal of Honor Recipients. Steel gains its strength by being forged in fire and Recipients' strengths are tested on the battlefield. But Recipients do not stand alone-their effort is supported by their service branches, represented to Vinoly as five pillars.

These early sketches would become the foundational vision for the National Medal of Honor Museum.
